This week, the City of Nashville said goodbye to outdated transportation regulations and hello to innovation, consumer choice, and economic opportunity.  Mayor Dean, Chairman Ronnie Steine, and the entire Nashville Metro Council adopted forward-thinking ordinance changes that eliminate a $45 required minimum fare (even if it’s only a 10-minute trip!) and a mandatory 30-minute wait time for sedan rides.

That means that we’ve added UberBLACK, which is entering its beta phase today in Nashville. Now, in addition to taking our low-cost uberX option, Nashvillians can ride around town in ultimate style and comfort with UberBLACK, the original Uber that connects you to your own private driver in a black sedan.

uberX or UberBLACK? The choice is yours — just as it should be.

Country crooner Katie Armiger couldn’t wait to get out of the cold and in on the action as our UberBLACK Rider Zero. This morning, she opened her app and requested the city’s inaugural black car ride to a meeting with her manager.
